Not only is it a good way to find other’s to ride out with, but it’s a way to quickly familiarise yourself with rides, local cycling routes and more importantly coffee stops.
With no further delay, here are six Manchester cycling clubs to check out.
Manchester Wheelers’ Cycling Club
This Manchester club was founded in 1883 and has long vast history within the cycling world. They have regular rides as well as competitive rides in road, track and cyclo-cross. With a vast roster too, it’s suitable for novice, intermediate and advanced riders.
They have a variety of discipline options including off-road which is complimented with the club being situated on the edge of the Peaks. This club has a strong social side to it too and provides both competitive and casual cycling opportunities.
Located in the South of Manchester, the Chorlton Velo Cycling Club is a large club that organise weekly rides. There is a focus on road cycling and they also have a large social community. With a standout jersey, you’ll see plenty of them around Manchester’s roads.
Based at the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre in Manchester, Eastlands Velo and Sportcity Velo are for youths and juniors with a focus on track. So if you or your kids are to be the next Jason or Laura Kenny, give this club a try.
Stating that the lowest entry level is a 10mph 30 mile bike ride, Bury Clarion cycling club in Manchester is a thriving community north of the city. Multi-discipline, you can try three rides before you commit to becoming a member too.
The East Manchester cycling club is based in Tameside offering recreational scenic rides to competitive racing and call themselves a family driven club. They also have a Go-Ride setup for young riders.
