As the capital city of Wales, you would expect a surplus of bike shops in Cardiff to support the City’s high cyclist population. And you would be right.
We found more than a fair few in our search, and thought we’d do the right thing and send them your way. Hopefully, we’ll include enough information on the shops for you. Although, you’ll always be able to find more details through the links we provide.
Bike Shed Wales
With stores in Tongwynlais and Pontcanna, this Cardiff based company was named ‘Top Wales Retailer’ by Trek Bicycles. And boast a £100,000 showroom specifically for Women’s Cycling in their Tongwynlais store.
They have excellent links with Welsh Cycling and Sports Cardiff, and host women-only rides in the Cardiff area. Their staff inform from experience, and the stores are filled with clothing and accessory brands from Raleigh to Banshee.

This independent shop caters to every cyclists, from the commuter to the racer. They operate with a small team of experienced on-floor staff, and in-house Olympic mechanics to provide a 360 degree service.
Their in-store products include brands such as Giant, Pearl Izumi, Shimano, and Cervelo. With Road, Mountain, Cyclocross, and Urban bikes available. And there’s even a workshop, for the less manually inclined of us.
Cyclopaedia is also the sponsor of the Cardiff JIF Cycling Club.

Cygnus Cycles is a unique mobile bike maintenance and repair company, for Cardiff and South-East Wales. All repairs are carried out by Cytech Cycle Mechanics, and courtesy bikes are available to keep you on the move.

Damian Harris Cycles
Having operated for over 60 years, not many have as much experience or expertise as Damian Harris Cycles. They hold a huge selection of products, from bikes to accessories, and house more brands than you even new existed.
Scooters for adults and kids are also sold in the store, for the more retro of us. On top of all this, DH Cycles provides a 24 Hour Repair Service. Which as we all know, is every cyclist’s dream.

Don Skene Cycles
Opened by the legendary Welsh cyclist Donald Skene, this shop has plentiful experience in the worlds of retail and racing. Don represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in 1954, 1968, and 1962 and has taken home two bronze medals! Whilst the store itself has seen unbound success in its 60+ years of operation.
They sell products, and independent parts, for:

Evans Cycles Cardiff
This is one of the most recognisable cycling retailers in the UK. Most cities and large towns will be home to an Evans’ store, so you’re likely to find one near you.
It’s where I bought my first bike, and all the gear I needed to get started up in the world of cycling. Although, you may find the prices are a little higher on certain stock. But the chain has its fair share of sales, so you’re always likely to find a few bargains.
Evans will have everything you can think of, from clothing, accessories, and components, to training and nutrition.

This is another big retail brand, who makes cycling one of their main priorities. You may know them better for their motoring services, but Halfords go a long way to provide the cycling clientele. These stores will have everything you need to start, and maintain, your cycling lifestyle.
They are also the home of cycling legend Chris Boardman’s brand; Boardman Bikes

Only that it is a cycle wholesalers located on 33a Lower Cathedral Road, Cardiff South Glamorgan, CF11 6BY.
This store is driven by being your local bike shop! And their expertly trained team of mechanics manage enquiries from puncture repairs, to custom builds, to electric gear systems, to wheel building, and more.
Their online stock includes Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Youth and Kids Bikes, and Components. Muddybum Bikes also have a sister shop open in the Newport area called Push Cycleworks. So for more information on that, and a list of bikes shops in Newport, read this article.

This store, located in Fairwater, was proclaimed Cardiff’s largest used bike store. They build and sell both new and reconditioned bikes, and offer servicing, repairs, and accessories also. All of their bikes are put through a rigorous 23 point inspection and road-test before sale. These include Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, Hybrids, BMX, and Children’s Bikes.

Punk Bikes specialises in custom builds and restorations, as well as servicing and repairs. Their website details the below as what you can find in-store:

There isn’t a great deal of online information available, but that’s even more of a reason to go in and say hello.
Sunset Cycles offers a massive range of brands and products. From components, accessories, and clothing, to bikes and frames, it’s likely you’ll find everything you need. They sport top brands, such as Orange, Cannondale, Cipollini, GT Bikes, and much more.

The Bike Shop Wales
This store specialises in the service and sales of new and used bikes, electric bikes, and mobility scooters. Most of their bikes are designed for leisure cyclists, but they also stock higher end units for the more enthusiastic riders.
The staple tools, components, clothing, and accessories are all available. For those of you who are interested, they also buy used bikes.
